The bolder in the attached iphone image was located just offshore in Chaumont Bay on the eastern shore of Point Peninsula. It was sitting in about 5 feet of water and was interfering with the boat dock, so it was hauled ashore. It is roughly 1 meter long, appears to be metamorphic, and has a reddish color. It doesn’t look anything like the surrounding flat greyish lake bottom rock. Does this look like a glacial erratic? Are there any simple tests to determine the makeup and possible origin of this rock if it is in fact a ‘visitor’ from Canada?
